Site Update: I’m pleased to announce that you can now access inspireUX within the great wireframing/prototyping product, Balsamiq Mockups. You can access inspireUX via the “Help” menu for when you need some inspiration while using the program.
Please take a moment and look at Balsamiq Mockups. It’s an interesting way of creating mockups that look like hand-drawn sketches with over 60 pre-built UI elements. View Balsamiq Mockups’ blog post about the update here.
“Each time you consider adding or removing an interface element, put it through the wringer. Is it a necessity or an accessory? Does it support your main message? Remember, it’s better to do one thing well, than many second-rate.” – Luke Wroblewski
Read Luke’s article “The Pursuit of Interface Design Simplicity” for his insights into why technology and design methodologies sometimes get in the way of achieving interface design simplicity.
“A good designer can create a design that accommodates all the constraints and still delivers an elegant, satisfying experience to the user. A great designer can go beyond this and create a design that demonstrates that some of those constraints weren’t really there to begin with.” – Jesse James Garrett
Read Jesse’s article “Aurora: Forecasting the Future” for his thoughts on the challenges surrounding Adaptive Path’s latest design concept.
“When software is hard to use, don’t make excuses for it. Improve it. When a user makes a mistake, don’t blame the user. Ask how the software misled them. Then fix it. The user’s time is more valuable than ours. Respect it. Good UI design is humble.” – Jono DiCarlo
Read Jono from Mozilla Labs’ article “These things I believe” for his thoughts on software development and user interface design.
